Anthony Camera Medium Hand blown glass Email a.camera@sbcglobal.net Artist's Statement My experience in glass started as a collector, with no interest in its creation. I was first invited to study under Shannon Jane Morgan at the Bristol Renaissance Faire as a hobby student. The more I studied the more I heard the “call of glass” and fire. When I became her apprentice, I realized there was greater depth to creating in this medium than I could have ever guessed. This medium requires both art and science to work together in a harmonious left-brain right-brain synergy. Standing in front of the hot furnace and glory hole, with molten glass at the end of my blowpipe, I am still filled with the unsurpassed wonder and joy of the first time I ever handled hot glass. Creating in this millenia old and purely elemental medium requires a focus and dedication that calls many, but few choose. Yet this medium is flexible enough to be molded into art or lifting it to usable art, which is what I strive for, to provide you a show piece that is useful as well, removing the mundane from your every day.
