Artist's Statement
I am a retired educator who began painting as a hobby. Since retirement I have been able to devote more time and energy to creative endeavors. My paintings are based on the images the paint and water suggest or scenes that have inspired me. Photoshop is used to explore the shapes, textures, and forms from my photographs of nature. I combine the digital art with the whimsical nature of watercolor paints. Sometimes, the photographic record is used as the basis for a painting and sometimes my photoshop work stands alone.
My work can be found in the permanent collection at the McHenry County Government Center and has been in Norris Cultural Arts Center Watermedia ’10, and The Illinois Watercolor Society’s 26th Annual Open Juried Exhibition. It is currently found at Body Language Studio, and Kalitrea Yoga Studio in Crystal Lake, and River Arts Studio and Gallery in Algonquin, Illinois. My work has also been in the Firehouse Gallery in Crystal Lake, Illinois, Hardy Center for the Arts in Ephraim, Wisconsin, Artistic Bits Gallery in East Dundee, Illinois, Woman's Work 2005 and 2009 in Woodstock, Illinois and Art in the Barn in Barrington in 2008 and 2009.
