Artist's Statement
I've always thought that leaves dropped off trees in the fall, their life was done, their purpose fulfilled. So, it was time to complete their cycle and fall to the ground after a final burst of color. Recently, however, another perspective was shared with me. It seems that leaves don't fall off trees - they're pushed! The simple version is that trees know that new growth is coming in the near future, so prepare for it by releasing or pushing off the old. The promise of spring is thus invited in.
My life is like that right now. I'm pushing away the old and am finally making room for new creative growth. Spring continues to be within my grasp! These pieces reflect this new attitude. They are extensions of my journey through which I'm connecting with my new found creativity. I hope they embrace the hope of accomplishing new dreams. |
